Tampax absorbency guide
Tampax's range in Pakistan is Regular, Super and Super Plus — three absorbency levels for the same cardboard-applicator tampon, not three different products.
- Regular — lighter flow days, or the start/end of a period.
- Super — the mid-flow default most people use through the heaviest days.
- Super Plus — the highest absorbency in the range, for very heavy flow.
The rule that matters more than picking the "right" one upfront: use the lowest absorbency that lasts close to four hours without leaking, and change it at least every four to eight hours regardless of flow, to reduce the (rare but serious) risk of toxic shock syndrome. If Regular needs changing every hour, that's a sign to size up, not a sign to use it longer.
Tampax invented the commercially sold tampon in 1936 and is still the best-selling tampon brand worldwide — the applicator design here is the same one that's been refined under Procter & Gamble's ownership since 1997, not a Pakistan-specific formulation.

- Which Tampax absorbency should I choose?
- The lowest that handles your flow. Regular suits light to moderate days, Super moderate to heavy, and Super Plus the heaviest days only. Higher absorbency than you need makes removal uncomfortable.
- How long can a Tampax stay in?
- No longer than 8 hours, and every 4 to 6 hours is better. Exceeding 8 hours raises the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome, which is rare but serious.
- Are cardboard applicators harder to use?
- They take slightly more practice than plastic but work perfectly well and are more environmentally friendly. Relax, angle towards the small of your back, and push the inner tube fully.
- Can I use a tampon overnight?
- Yes, provided you insert it just before bed and remove it as soon as you wake, staying within 8 hours. For longer sleeps, use a pad instead.
