Spread an even layer over clean, dry skin, leave it for the time stated on the pack, then wipe or rinse it off along with the hair. Because it's made for sensitive skin, still patch-test a small area first, and keep it off broken skin and away from the eyes.

Use only as directed on the pack. Delay sprays and creams may contain surface anaesthetics such as lidocaine or benzocaine; avoid use if you are allergic, wash off excess before contact, and stop if either partner feels irritation or numbness.

What it is
A hair removal product for external use on the body. Supplied in the 100ml size. Depending on the type, it either dissolves hair at the surface (depilatory cream) or removes it from the root (wax or strips).
What people use it for
- Removing body hair at home, without a salon appointment.
- Longer-lasting results than shaving, in the case of wax and strips, since the hair is removed at the root.
How to use it
- Patch-test 24 hours in advance, on a small area of the same skin you intend to treat. Depilatory creams in particular can burn skin that reacts to them.
- Use on clean, dry, intact skin.
- Follow the timing on the pack exactly. Leaving a depilatory cream on longer than stated does not remove more hair — it causes chemical burns, and this is the most common way people are injured by these products.
- Rinse thoroughly with warm water, pat dry, and avoid perfumed products, hot baths, swimming and direct sun for 24 hours afterwards.
Where not to use it
Not for use on the face unless the pack specifically says so, and never on or inside the genitals, near the eyes, or on broken, irritated, sunburnt or recently waxed skin. Do not use on moles, warts or varicose veins.
Stop immediately and rinse with cool water if there is burning or stinging. See a doctor if the skin blisters or the reaction does not settle within a day.

Do I really need to patch-test?
Yes. Depilatory creams work by chemically breaking down hair, and skin that reacts badly can blister. A 24-hour patch test on a small area is how you find that out safely rather than painfully.
Can I use it on the bikini line or intimate area?
Only if the pack explicitly states it is for that area, and never internally or on the genitals themselves. The skin there is thinner and reacts more strongly.
What if I leave it on longer for better results?
Do not. Exceeding the stated time causes chemical burns rather than removing more hair, and it is the most common injury with these products. If hair remains, remove what you can and treat the rest another day.
