What it is
A silk-style chemise — a loose, lightweight slip worn as nightwear or lingerie.
Choosing a size
A chemise is cut to drape rather than to fit closely, so it is more forgiving of sizing than structured lingerie. If you are between sizes, the larger one usually hangs better. Check the measurements listed on this page against a garment you already own and like the fit of — that is more reliable than comparing size labels, which vary between manufacturers.
Care
- Hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent. Silk-style fabrics do not take hot water or ordinary washing powder well.
- Do not wring or twist. Press the water out gently, or roll it in a towel.
- Dry flat or on a padded hanger, away from direct sunlight, which fades the colour.
- Cool iron on the reverse if needed, or hang it in a steamy bathroom to drop the creases.
Worth knowing
Colours in photographs vary a little with screen and lighting. Loose threads at a seam can be trimmed rather than pulled — pulling one draws the seam.

How do I choose the right size?
